If you've come across my collection before then you probably know that I need more than generic representation in my designs, the mainstream ideas are like looking at a desk covered in white copy papers, it all blends in together. I say If it's important make it stand out!
So I brainstorm and add in a flare of symbolism because these Licenses are important and deserve to be eye-catching! They are accomplishments that you made countless sacrifices for to transition into an elevated role, and now, after a lengthy disciplined pursuit there is a new and improved version of yourself to celebrate. Congratulations!
The Nurse Practitioner design includes the Staff of Asclepius which is the most commonly accepted medical symbol. Asclepius in Greek mythology was the God of healing and medicine who was so talented he was able to bring a patient back from the dead. The rod and staff have a few different stories of origin, I favor the version that the rod is derived from the ancient treatment of parasitic worms that use to crawl under the skin. The worm were treated by cutting the skin and winding the worm around a stick until it was pulled out. Those that offered this treatment displayed a sign with the Staff of Asclepius. (I know, it's Gross but admittedly interesting)
Our next element is the Pheonix at the top of the staff to signal the death and rebirth of this new and improved version of yourself. A Pheonix is incredibly fitting for a Nurse Practitioner as it is also reported to have the ability to restore life to the sick and injured.
Black to represent the ashes of transition; Red to symbolize the PTSD, (cough) I mean experience as an RN; Gold to reward and cherish this new accomplishment, specifically tied in with the branches at the bottom of the patch to show that you can't do one without the other; and White for the continued pursuit to elevate and improve the availability of healthcare in our community.
Congratulations again! I hope you enjoy the design and all the exciting elements of your role as a Nurse Practitioner.
With Great Respect,
